Richard Lee Hickey, age 82 born on October 13, 1929 in Houston, Texas, died on Monday, December 12, 2011 after a lengthy battle with cancer, Richard is now with the Lord. A longtime resident of Mobile, member of Kingswood United Methodist Church, he loved serving as a teacher in the senior Sunday school class. He led the devotionals for the Tuesday morning prayer breakfast, sang in the choir for many years and was involved in the ministries at Knollwood Point for over ten years. He served 24 years in the Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant, E8 (1st sgt). He served in the Korean War and two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. After 20 years he retired from the US Post Office. Richard will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 58 years Marlene Anderson Hickey; four children, Mark Hickey, Karen Womble (Clark) , Phyllis Diamond (Keith) , Lisa Tew (Steve); nine grandchildren, Jason Hickey (Tara), Jessica Hickey, Jacob Hickey, Jennifer Keller (Zach), Laura Womble, Christopher Diamond (Melissa) , Courtney Diamond, Elizabeth Tew and Emme Grace Tew; four great -grandchildren, Ethan & Austin Hickey, Abigail & Mya Diamond, he is also survived by his sister, Audrey Gilliam, brother-in-law, William Dement, nieces, nephews. Our hope is in Jesus Christ our Lord & Savior, because of Him we will all be reunited again. Visitation will be held on Thursday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
