Sidney Thompson, Jr., 77, who did mortgage banking work at Bogley, Harding, Mahoney and Lebling in Bethesda from the 1950s to the late 1980s, died Feb. 3 at a hospital in Wytheville, in southwestern Virginia, after a heart attack.

Mr. Thompson was vice president of Bogman Inc., a title company in Bethesda, from 1988 to 1991.

A former Rockville resident, he had lived in Max Meadows, Va., near Wytheville, since the early 1990s.

He was a native of Poolesville and a graduate of Randolph-Mason Military Academy in Front Royal, Va., where he was captain of the varsity football, baseball, and basketball teams. He attended George Washington University.

He served in the Army Air Forces in Europe during World War II.

His marriage to Virginia Mae Stonestreet Thompson ended in divorce.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jean Alderman Sigmon Thompson of Max Meadows; three daughters from his first marriage, Anne Heard of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Katherine Diggins of Montgomery Village, and Jean Michaud of Solomon Island, Md.; two step-children, Robert Sigmon Thompson of Damascus and Carla Sigmon Martin of Baton Rouge, La.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, April 3, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Poolesville, Md.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Patuxent Animal Welfare Society, Inc., 237 Deer Dr., Lusby, Md, 20657 or the Montgomery Hospice at Casey House, 6001 Muncaster Mill Rd., Rockville, MD 20855.
