She was born May 19, 1940, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Robert W. Nelson and Virginia B. Nemo Nelson Wellington.
Barbara was retired from the former First National Bank of Elm Grove where she was a Branch Manager and Head Cashier.
She was a member of the Elm Grove United Methodist Church where she served on several committees. She was also a member of the El To Grotto Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, a former board member of the Y.W.C.A., and president of Wheeling Park High School Football Moms.
Surviving are her husband, Paul E. Ferrell; two sons, Carlton J. and Elliot C. Ferrell, both at home; four brothers, Jack L. Nelson and his wife, Charlotte of Valley Grove; Robert W. Nelson of Garden Grove, CA; Jepson L. "Larry" Nelson and his wife, Carol; and Ronald D. Nelson all of Valley Grove; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling (304-242-2311). Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011, at the Elm Grove United Methodist Church with the Reverend Bryan D. Carpenter officiating. Interment in Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling.
