He was born Oct. 6, 1897, in Akron Township near Rothsay, the son of Carl and Louise (Reiman) Max. He grew up and attended country school in Akron Township. Mr. Max farmed his entire life and retired in 1971. In 1974, he moved to Breckenridge, and in 1993, he became a resident of the Wahpeton Health Care Center.
Mr. Max was a member of the Breckenridge Lutheran Church and also enjoyed watching baseball.
Mr. Max was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Emma, Louise, Lena, Ida, Clara, and a sister who died in infancy; and three brothers, Ed, Charlie and Henry.
