Anton "Tony" Anderson, 86, a resident of St. Francis Home of Breckenridge and formerly of Foxhome died Sunday, January 7 at the home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 9 at the Foxhome Lutheran Church with Rev. Larry Lange officiating. Burial will be in the Burau Cemetery in rural Foxhome.
He was born Feb. 27, 1903 at Dubue, LA., the son of Ole and Carrie (Hanson) Anderson. As a child he moved with his family to the Doran area where he grew up and attended schools and was confirmed at Vukku Lutheran Church, rural Foxhome.
Nov. 18, 1926 he married Clara Martinson at Rothsay. The couple made their home in the Foxhome area where he farmed. During the 1930s and 1940s, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Voghts Construction Co. Later he also worked as a mechanic as well as a farm laborer.
July 1985 he moved to Wahapeton and in 1989 became a resident of St. Francis Home in Breckenridge.
He was a member of Foxhome Lutheran Church, the Fire Department, the Sportsman Club and the Senior Citizen Club.
Mrs. Anderson preceded him in death April 10, 1985.
He is survived by four daughters, Marcella Heitkamp of Breckenridge, Darlene Ehlert and Wanda Hought of Foxhome, and Karen Larson of Rothsay; four sons, Orlo of Winthrop, Calmer of Devils lake, N.D., LeRoy of Fergus Falls and Keith of Alexaneria; two sisters, Margaret Erickson of Fergus Falls andd Myrtle Steinback of Campbell; 38 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church.
