Actor. One of the ”Great Lovers” in Swedish film during the 1940s and 1950s. A popular charmer who was one of the most distinguished actors in Sweden during his 50-year career. He started taking lessons in 1928 at Lorensbergsteatern in his hometown Gothenburg. He proceeded his education at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm 1929-1931. Through his career he acted against many of the great stars at the time, for instance Ingrid Bergman, Viveca Lindfors and Signe Hasso. ”En kvinnas ansikte” (1938), ”Tänk om jag gifter mig med prästen” (1941), ”Doktor Glas” (1942), ”Appasionata” (1944), Strindberg´s ”Hemsöborna” (1955), ”Domaren” (1960) and ”Fadern” (1969) are examples from his recognized professional life. From 1977 until 1982 he recitated Tennyson´s poem ”Nyårsklockan” at Skansen in Stockholm, a tradition broadcasted in Swedish Television at midnight on New Year´s Eve.
