D. George Bass, 89, of Reese, died peacefully, Thursday evening May 14, 2009 at his home. He was born December 14, 1919 in Tuscola County, son of the late Thomas and Margaret Hutchins Bass and was a graduate of Kingston High School. On July 31, 1943 he married the former Angeline Chantiny in Brown City. She predeceased him November 16, 1996.

George was employed at the Carling Brewing Company in Frankenmuth for over thirty years and formerly owned and operated Reese Hardware until 1965. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese and enjoyed gardening and riding his lawn tractor.

Surviving are his children and their spouses, James D. and Ann Bass of Polk City, Iowa; Leonard and Holly Bass of Watrousville; Dean A. and Karen Bass of Bay City; Joan Jake Reddout of Penn Yan, New York; and Judy and Jim Manning of Vassar; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by four brothers.

~FUNERAL SERVICE~
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009 from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Rev. Robert H. Bennett will officiate with burial to follow in the Trinity Cemetery.

~VISITATION~
George's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
