The Taskers were of English descent. William Tasker, the emigrant ancestor was born in England about 1655. Settled in Madbury, then a part of Dover, M-Mary Adams. They had a son, John Tasker, b-about 1680, who m-April 3, 1718 to Judith Davis. They had eight children. A dau, Rebecca, b-1729, m-Samuel Huggins of Cornish. They are both buried in Cornish. William Tasker, son of John was b-May 28, 1721, m-1744, Elizabeth ?. They had thirteen children...
James Tasker was their fifth child. His Wife, Charity, is said she lived over a hundred years and died in Cornish, about 1854. An incomplete list of their Children is as follows.

James, b-1785
Hannah, b-? M-Henry Chesley. She drowned in Cold River at
Walpole in 1837. She left five children

Rebecca, b-1803, Never married also was with her sister in a stage coach coming from Northwood to Cornish, when they were carried away by high floods, just as they crossing the Walpole Bridge in 1837

** it is said there was a Benjamin and Ebenezer, also a Hanson Tasker, but no further record of them can be found
