Son of Jacob and Anna Maria Wingert-Winger. Husband of Christina Mary Miller. Father of John S, Mary, Chrisina Jane, Jacob, Anna Margaretha, Joseph, Peter Alter and Ester Winger-Wingert-Wingard. John Winger served in the War of 1812, he was a Pvt. in Col. Campbell's PA Westmoreland Malitia, fighting in the "Battle of the Mississewa Indians" in Ohio. He settled in Cornplanter, where he as a blacksmith and farmer where he died and was orginally buried on family farm in Cornplanter with his wife, Christine. They were moved to Grove Hill Cemetery when road was put in from Oil City.
