Bertha married William H. Halsema on 15 Jan 1907 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, and had the following children: Louise (Moore), Dorothy, Edward, Robert, Margaret (Gick), Carl, Gertrude (Charlesworth), William, Bertha, and Rita.

Mrs. Bertha J. Halsema 75 who had lived on Rt. 11 died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in Ross Annex where she was a patient one month. She leaves 101 decendants.

A native of Colburn she was married in 1907 to William Halsema who died in 1956. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic church.

Surviving are four sons Carl J., William H. and Edward of Lafayette and Robert of Mulberry, six daughters, Mrs. Louise Moore and Mrs. Gertrude Charlesworth of Lafayette and Mrs. Dorothy Zink of Fowler, Mrs. Margaret Gick of Colfax, Mrs. Betty Franks of French Lick and Mrs. Rita Nelson of Battle Ground and two sisters Mrs. George Hatke of McCarthy Lane and Mrs. Everett Hicks of Brookston.
