Luvernia Smith West, age 70, passed away 5:25 p.m. Monday at her home in Robbins. She was the wife of Pryor West. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Robbins, a splendid Christian Woman and had a host of friends. Besides her husband she is survived by 6 sons: Carlie of Harriman, Onvey of Robbins, Oscar with U. S. Marines in Camp LeJune, N. C., Garmon with the U.S. Air Force in Ottis Air Force Base, Mass., Ed of Chicago, Paul of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Alice Willard of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Lucile Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; 4 sisters: Mrs. Manda Wright of Oneida; Mrs. Martha Terry of Huntsville, Mrs. Polly Davenport of Revelo, Ky., Mrs. Flora Keeton of Clinton, Tenn.; 1 brother, Elmer Smith of Oneida. 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist Church at Robbins at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Revs. L. M. Jeffers and James Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Robbins Cemetery. Arrangement by West. [Source: Scott County News, 16 May 1958, p8]
