Mrs. Alvina Bierlein of Frankenmuth and formerly of Vassar, went home to be with her Lord, Monday afternoon, October 4, 2004 at The Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth. Age 82 years. She was born on October 9, 1921 in LaCross, Washington, daughter of the late John and Christina (Pauli) Mohr. She married Ruben Bierlein on October 9, 1943 in Saginaw. She was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville and longtime member of its Ladies Aid. Alvina loved playing cards and traveling with her husband. She had been head cook for St. Michael's Lutheran School for 25 years until her retirement in 1986. Surviving besides her husband Ruben of 60 years are her two daughters and their spouses, Patricia Gail and Waldo Hecht, Debra Kristine and Charles Weber all of Vassar; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren, 2 step great grandsons and one brother Melvin (Hattie) Mohr of Saginaw, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Luella Buchinger, Robert Kolhagen, Jean Mohr, Wilma and Arnie Scharrer, Doris Heindl and many nieces and nephews. 5 sisters and 1 brother, Pauline Schafer, Emma Karst, Leona "Kitty" Kolhagan, Esther "Toby" Schmandt and Frieda Elsie Weber, and Ruben Mohr all predeceased.

-FUNERAL SERVICE-
Funeral and committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2004 from St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville. Rev. Rob Gadeken and Rev. Wes Gillaspie will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

-VISITATION-
Alvina's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, Reese on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
