Janice Mary Abell, 64, of Westminster, died Dec. 29, at her home from an extended illness.
Born April 10, 1940, in New Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Ethel Strine Knauff.
She was the wife of Francis C. "John" Abell of Westminster. They had been married since 1971.
She was a retired nurse with the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
She was a member of Sam's Creek Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed the flowers around her home and the outdoors.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter and her fiance Sandra Cherney and Wayne Koontz of Westminster; stepdaughters Judy Ledford and Susan Abell, both of North Carolina, stepson John Abell of Hanover, Pa., sister and brother-in-law Judy and Doug Bowlin of Sykesville; niece Brenda Bowlin; nephew Steve Bowlin, six stepgrandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home & Monument Company, Eldersburg, with her pastor, the Rev. Paul Leatherman, officiating. Interment will be in the Sam's Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery at a later date.
