Amos was the son of John and Agnes Asino Sedillo. He married Lydia Ransom Small, daughter of Maria Louisa Bloomer and Edward Isaac Small, on March 5, 1878 in the borough of Manhattan. They were the parents of Lester Edward Sedillo and Ida L. Sedillo.
Amos supported his family as a clothing merchant and tailor, first in NYC and then in Pittson, PA, Port Jervis, NY and Warren, Ohio.
Note: The family surname may originally have been Sedileau, Sedilot or Cedilot. The informant on the DC gave Amos' place of birth as NY state, but he may have been born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was enumerated as b. Canada in the 1880 census of NYC. In 1911, he was appointed administrator for the estate of M. Delia Sedileau (b. 1852, Canada), of Granville, NY.
