Died, at her residence in McPhersonville, Prince William's Parish, on Thursday, 3oth October, 1851. Mrs. Martha Hutson, relict of William M. Hutson, in the 74th year of her age.

Thus has passed from earth to a brighter world, an aged and venerable Christian, loved and venerated in life and now mourned in death by a whole community. Of none more truly than of her could it be said: "None knew her, but to love her. None named her but to praise.

Martha Hay 1777-1851, wife of William Maine Hutson 1777-1835, is buried in Stoney (or Stony) Creek Cemetery, Beaufort Co., SC, according to church records, but her tombstone is long gone.

NO MORE CHANGES TO BIRTH/DEATH INFO WILL BE MADE WITHOUT DOCUMENTATION. DEATH INFO IS CORRECT PER HER OBITUARY.

(following info by Anonymous) "Lewis Scott Hay moved south at the same time that Charlotte and Matilda came with their father Samuel Hay, lawyer. Martha Hay, sister of Lewis and Samuel, also moved south and married William Hutson of SC. Another brother was Frederick Jay Hay married in the north and moved south. He's son Thornwell married his first cousin Josephine Louise Oakman Hay, daughter of Wellington Oakman and his wife Adeline Davis Hay Oakman" per written family records of Martha McBee Guerard ( 1916-1980).
