From the June 7, 1923 Skidmore News, page 1:
"Mrs. Emma Timmons, daughter of Hezekiah and Matilda Rodgers, was born at Gentry, Gentry county, Mo., January 2, 1866, and died at Quitman, Mo., June 1, 1923 at the age of 57 years, four months and 29 days.

She was one of a family of ten children, of whom are brother Roy Rodgers and one sister Mrs. Elizabeth Walker, preceded her to the Great Beyond. She is survived by four sisters and three brothers: Mrs. John Ball of Gentry, Mo., Mrs. Amanda Amer of Port Hill, Idaho, Mrs. Angeline Clintworth of Terlton, Okla., Mrs. A. M. Huff of Gentry, Mo., William Rodgers of Unadilla, Nebr., George Rodgers of Syracuse, Nebr., Sherman Rodgers of Eddyville, Nebr.

She was united in marriage to Robert H. Timmons July 12, 1886 and to this union were born three children, William H. Timmons of Quitman, Mo., Mrs. Verna McDonald of Quitman, Mo., and Minty Timmons, who died in infancy. Her husband preceded her on January 18, 1912.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Charles William, Joseph Earl and Gerald Douglas McDonald.

Mrs. Timmons had lived the greater part of her life in and near Quitman and will be sadly missed by a host of friends and relatives. She was a member of the Christian church, O.E.S. and Rebekah lodges.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in Quitman, Mo. Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. E. F. Hagee, pastor of the Christian church at Skidmore. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Quitman."
