COLORADO CITY ~~ John W. De Long, 82, of Colorado City died at 1:05 p.m. Sunday at Root Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Funeral was to be at 3 p.m. Monday at Kiker-Seale Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Raymond Mayfield, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, was to officiate with burial in Colorado City Cemetery.
Mr. De Long was born December 16, 1890 in Young County and moved to Colorado City in 1923. He married Minnie Dodson in March, 1912, in Comanche County.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and a retired blacksmith.
Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Mina Woolridge of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Sally Murphy of Abilene and Mrs. Mildred Shetly and Mrs. Belle Marsh, Both of Sulphur, Louisiana; two sons, H. W. of Copperas Cove and Bud of Abilene; three sisters, Mrs. Rachel Davis of Dallas and Nova De Long of California; a brother, George of Albany; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
