Daniel Gene Parson, 48, of Mountainburg died Dec. 9, 2011 in Fort Smith.
He was born Dec. 30, 1962, in Louisville, Ky., to Robert Lee and Janice LeBaron Parson.

He was retired after 20 years service in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served his Country as a Veterinarian to the Marines K-9 corps. His Rate is a Naval Corpsman 2nd Class.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Janice Parson of Fort Smith; four sisters, Debra Birkholz of LaPort, Ind., Jayna Todd of West Fork and Laura Dawn Hudson and Karen Sue Endl, both of Fort Smith; and one brother, Robert Lee Parson Jr. of Fort Smith.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with full military honors by the Marine Corps League Honor Guard under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be members of VFW Post 8845: Johnny Gothard, Robert Cravens, Leroy Farmer, Darrell Smith, Carter Ferguson and Dustin Gober.
