Service of Remembrance for Karen Kay Nolan, 55, of Bismarck, ND formerly of the Paradise community, south of Carson, ND will be Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Paradise Lutheran Church. Rev. Carl Lindeman, Rev. Wayne Rouse and Rev. Paul Heidrich will officiate and burial will follow at the Paradise Lutheran Cemetery. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 31 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin, ND and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday morning. A gathering of family and friends will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Funeral home in Elgin.

KAREN KAY SCHADLER was born in Elgin, ND on July 22, 1954 to Adam and Charlotte (Seibel) Schadler. She grew up on the family farm and went to country school through the eighth grade. She continued her education in Carson, ND then Dickinson State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.

Karen met Chris Nolan and they were married on August 13, 1977. They moved to the farm in 1979 and began raising their family there. She and Chris operated the dairy farm until 2002 when they moved to Bismarck, ND.

While on the farm, she was very active with Paradise Lutheran Church as a Sunday School Teacher and organist. Karen was also active in the local Homemaker's club. After moving to Bismarck, Karen kept herself busy writing spiritual poetry. Karen passed away on May 27, 2010 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.

She is survived by her husband, Christopher Nolan, Bismarck; son, Timothy (Maria) Nolan, Bismarck; daughter, Amy (Joshua) Peterson, New Underwood, SD; grandchildren, Taylor and Katie Peterson and Yolanda Nolan; two brothers, Richard Schadler, Elgin, ND and Steven Schadler, New Salem, ND. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Charlotte Schadler and a daughter, Sarah Nolan.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial will be established by her family.
