Debra Sue Horton Varner, age 54, of 3511 Carrington Street, Greensboro, NC died Monday, November 28, 2011 at her residence. She was born August 3, 1957 in Ashe County. She was preceded in death by her mother, Susie Hill Horton Perdue. She is survived by one brother, Kenneth Randall Horton of Gibsonville; two aunts, Sadie Maines of Piney Creek and Bronda Lee Horton of Ennice; one uncle, Gerald Horton of Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Piney Creek. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Sadie Maines, 8409 NC Hwy 113, Piney Creek, NC. Grandview Memorial Funeral Home is serving the Varner family.
