Greta was the daughter of George Weyman Saunders and Nettie Ethel Hicks both from Canada. Greta however was born in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1909 the family returned to Salisbury, NB Canada. Greta's sister Violet was born in 1911.
On 22 Mar 1922 Greta married Lloyd Lester Buck of Dorchester NB. In the early 1920s they moved to Fairfield, Maine with their first child George Riley. They had four more children; Muriel Grace, Stella, Shirley, and David W.
Greta died unexpectedly at the age of 37 when David was only two years old.
