Graveside services for Arthur Lee "A.L." Claxton Jr. will be at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at Bomar Point Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Born on Sept. 2, 1933, in Wilson to Arthur Lee Claxton and Dovie Mae Scott Claxton, he died on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at his Fort Worth, Texas, residence. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby Gene Claxton. Raised in Wilson, he attended school here and lived in California and Texas, where he managed several convenience stores in the Fort Worth area and worked as a mechanic. He and Wanda Jean Campbell were married on June 15, 1999, in Fort Worth.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Wanda, of the home; three daughters, Sharon Kay Coker, Arlington, Texas, Pam Claxton and Shawna Maley, Hesperia, Calif.; two sons, Darryl Claxton, Weatherford, Texas, and Bobby Claxton, Wilson; two stepdaughters, Sharon Moody, White Settlement, Texas, and Debra Mann, Loveland, Colo.; two stepsons, Ricky Allen, Fort Worth, and Ronnie Allen, White Settlement; a sister, Jane Jones, Athens, Texas; a brother, Leon Claxton, Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bearers will be Eric Molina, Ronnie Allen, Ronnie Allen Jr., Charles Allen, Ricky Allen and Michael Maley. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
