Professional and College Football Coach. For twenty-three seasons (1971 to 1993), he served as head coach of the Harvard Crimson football program. He attended Hastings High School (Pennsylvania) and following service with the Counter Intelligence Corp Detachment (US Army and Air Force) during World War II, he attended St. Francis University (Pennsylvania). Restic played collegiate football at Villanova University before being signed as a non-drafted player by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1952; he appeared in 3 games at the defensive-back position during that season. He played baseball in the Philadelphia Phillies' organization, prior to launching his lengthy football coaching career as an assistant at Brown (1956 to 1958) and Colgate Universities (1959 to 1961). In 1962, he joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats coaching staff (1962 to 1967) of the Canadian Football League and succeeded Ralph Sazio as their head coach from 1968 to 1970, compiling a 22 win 17 loss and 3 tie record. During his tenure with Harvard, he guided the Crimson to five Ivy League titles and earned Eastern Coach of the Year honors three-times. He amassed a 117 win 97 loss and 6 tie record.
