Ruth Ann McMillin was born April 13, 1850 in Warren county, Indiana, coming to Iowa in 1854 with her parents and settling near Villisca, Montgomery County. She was the daughter of Daniel Goble McMillin and Lydia Jane Wilson. Her line can be traced back as far as her great grandparents, Daniel McMillin and Eleanor Ferguson. Ruth Ann died in Shenandoah Feb. 17, 1917 and is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah Iowa next to, William Hays, her first husband who died, June 8th 1908. She died at the home of Mrs. E. E. Lemon, her daughter, Monday, being 66 years, 10 months and 6 days of age at the time of her death. Of seventeen children born to this first union, only six lived to adulthood. Eleven of these children died in early childhood, five of these died within one week of scarlet fever epidemic. they are buried in a row in the old Lutheran cemetery at Imogene, Fremont county, Iowa. Ruth and William were of the Methodist Church.
March 16, 1914, Mrs. Hays become the wife of J. W. Fuller who survives her. The surveying brothers and sisters are Mrs. S. M. Cambell of Franklin, Nebraska., Mrs. M.G. Bedford of Shenandoah, Thomas McMillin of Veneta, Oregon, Mrs. L.J. Casey of Bueypus, Ohio, and D. W. McMillin of Winner, South Dakota. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Church, the service being conducted by the pastor, Rev. Simpson.
