"Once owned most of the land up at Stone Mountain near Traphill." (Now a state park)

Had the most slaves of anyone in the area, 14 at one time.

Jefferson was one slave's name who, with his family, took the name Holloway when freed.

Story was that when the Holloways came down off the mountain, especially on Saturday night, anyone who didn't want to lose a fight would get out of their way.
