Daniel was the third of seven children born to David Augustus and Mary Adaline (McKee) Arndt. He married (1) Cora Herman and they had two children: Vivian Rose and Daniel H. He later married (2) Lillie Thompson.

Daniel Marcus Arndt, 92, of Weyers Cave, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville. He had not been in good health for the past two years.
Mr. Arndt was born Aug. 12, 1909, in Maiden, N.C., and was the son of the late David Augustus and Mary Adeline McRee Arndt.
He was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, where he was an usher and served on the Stewards Board. He was a carpenter by trade and a farmer. He retired from DuPont in Waynesboro in 1968.
His first wife, Cora Herman Arndt, preceded him in death in 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Thompson Arndt, whom he married on Nov. 24, 1978; a son, Daniel H. Arndt of Waynesboro; a daughter, Vivian A. McCaskey, Weyers Cave; a stepson, Charles P. Cregger of Lewisville, N.C; two sisters, Edna A. Morris of Hickory, N.C., and Minnie A. Beard, Burlington, N.C.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The Rev. Douglas Gunsalus will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at the New Hope United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave. Friends may also call at the Arndt home or the home of his daughter, 11 Lofton Drive, Weyers Cave, at any time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grottoes Rescue Squad or the New Hope United Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements were pending Thursday night at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.
