Reverend Willie Marvin Trader was the son of Benjamin & Emmaline Brown Trader. He married Letha Louise Farrell in 1896, and worked in a cotton mill in Columbia. He was ordained into the ministry in 1909, and his first pastorate was in Darlington. Willie worked in the Darlington cotton mill to support his growing family. He served many churches in North and South Carolina, including pastorates at Oswego-Sumter, Hickory, N.C., and Whitmire. He helped lay the foundation of the present Church of God in Darlington.
