This monument for Dick and Jean Homewood of Wolcott, Connecticut, reads at the bottom: "LIFE IS NOT FOREVER LOVE IS", and that certainly describes the relationship they had. Dick was the son of Albert J. and Ellen Leach Homewood of Wolcott; he married Jean Maynard Pellow on March 25, 1950 at the First Baptist Church of Southington. Jean was the daughter of Edward George and Ruth Maynard Pellow of Southington. Dick and Jean became the parents of three children: Kathryn Jean Homewood, Linda Ellen D'Abramo and Richard Albert Edward Homewood; the grandparents of Dana D'Abramo, Alexandria Michelle and Emily Anne Homewood.
The Homewood farm, Happy Hollow, was established in Wolcott in the late 1800's; Dick was a very active member of the Wolcott community, a member of the Republican Town Committee for 40 years, a Wolcott constable for 30 years, a charter member of the Wolcott Lions Club, a member of the Wolcott Historical Society, a member of the Wolcott Congregational Church; also he had been a member of the Wolcott Inland Wetlands Commission since its inception in 1973, serving as its chairman for about 4 years. He preceded his wife Jean in death by just a little more than a month, and they were both interred in the Edgewood Cemetery in Wolcott in May, 2003.
