Adah Marie May Meng, 100, passed away peacefully in her home of 75 years on Monday August 10th, 2020.

She was born in Warrensburg, Missouri, September 8, 1919. She moved to Independence, Missouri with her mother Christine Hall and father James Hall when she was 6 years old. Adah attended Bryant Elementary and graduated William Chrisman High School in 1937. Adah fell in love with the boy next door and married Richard May in 1940. They were married until his death in 1977. She later married Dr. Lester Meng of Independence, Missouri. They were married until his passing in 1984.

Adah was a member of the RLDS Laurel Club as well as other community volunteer groups. She was a devoted room mother during her two daughters' Bristol Elementary school years. She was the ticket lady at the old Granada Theater. Adah was probably best known for her smile and cheerfulness behind the information desk at the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital. She loved playing card games and dominoes with friends and family. Adah was a member of several local bridge groups and played until the young age of 98.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard May; husband, Dr. Lester Meng; two brothers Gene and Charles Hall; and sister Helen Linson.

She is survived by daughters Helen May Galyon of Independence, Missouri, Debra May Smith of Alta Wyoming and stepson Timothy Meng. Adah was a loving grandmother to Richard Galyon of Alexandria, Virginia; James Galyon of Cumming, Georgia; Harper Duddy of Dripping Springs, Texas and DJ Smith of Austin, Texas. She was blessed with three great grandchildren Hailey Galyon; Kitt and Billie Duddy.

A private gathering of immediate family will be held at the family home beginning the week of August 17, 2020. We will celebrate her long life and lovingly distribute her ashes in Independence, Missouri.

Donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice, Independence, Missouri.
