Betty Altizer Duncan, 79, of Floyd, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 8, 2011. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Edgar David Duncan; and her parents Vada and Annie Altizer. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and John Sutherland, Judy and Jimmy Lester; and son Eugene Duncan. She leaves behind brothers, Edward Altizer, Teddy Altizer, Tommy Altizer; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Norma Altizer, Lawrence and Marti Altizer, and Tazewell and Jean Altizer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Russell Akers, Ruth and James Moran, and Rosie and Gene Altizer; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Alpheus Atkins officiating. Interment to follow at White Rock Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the funeral home. Special thanks to all involved in her care during this journey; therapists, home health, Blue Ridge Cancer Care, and staff at CNRV Medical Center.
