It is believed James Stewart to be the younger brother of Alfred Merriel Stewart, SR, whose widow Catherine Richardson Stewart and eight children moved from N.C. to Henderson County TN with a group led by Hosea Preslar around 1854...I believe James and his wife Sarah were a part of that group led by Hosea Preslar. They are buried in Friendship Cemetery, Gibson County, TN.

James died in 1873. He was 63.
