Harriett May Maillard, 97, The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, died Thursday evening at the home.
She was born in Cresson, daughter of the late Abram and Anna Katharine (Eakin) Youngkin. She married Louis J. Maillard on Dec. 6, 1965, in Altoona, and he preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1988.
Surviving are a friend, Beverly Motsic of Altoona; and two cousins: Don and Irma Youngkin of Coalport.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Earnest Youngkin.
Harriett formerly had been employed as a seamstress and as a home health aide at Valley View Home. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona, and had previously been a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Harriett enjoyed crocheting, gardening, her cat, singing in churches with her husband, Louis, and writing letters and her memoirs. She taught Sunday school for years at the Presbyterian Church in the East End of Altoona.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona (www.myerssomersfuneralhome.com), followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., Monsignor Stanley Carson officiating. Interment will be made at Beaver Valley Cemetery.
