She was born in McLain, Mississippi and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. She taught third grade for twenty-five years, mainly in the public school district of Forest, Mississippi. She moved to Clinton, Mississippi in 1979. A devout Christian, she joined the Clinton Baptist Church where she was an active member, participating in The Joymakers, an award-winning senior choir under the leadership of Minister of Music, Bill Bacon. She enjoyed studying the Bible and taught Sunday School in her home churches until she was 94 years old. She loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and enjoyed flower arranging and playing dominoes with her friends and family.
The funeral service was held at Cumming First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011 Interment followed on Tuesday, December 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the Eastern Cemetery in Forest, Mississippi.Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
