Randy Joe Ramsey, at the age 61, died unexpectedly of cancer on July 23rd, 2011 at his home in Houston, Texas with his family by his side.

Randy was born to Bill and Betty Ramsey August 11th, 1949 in the Ponca City Hospital. He grew up in a small oil camp called Carter Nine just outside Shidler Oklahoma. Randy graduated from Shidler High school and went on to attend Okmulgee Tech School where he received a culinary arts degree to become a Chef. His first job as a Chef was at the Ponca City Country Club and then he went on to be the Chef of the Stillwater Country Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Randy furthered his education by taking Hotel and Restaurant Management in the state of Missouri.

In 1970, Randy entered the Navy and was stationed at the Strategic Air Command in Jacksonville, Florida during the Vietnam War. A short time after he moved to Houston, Texas Randy started work at the Allen Park Inn for Mr. and Mrs. Harris. Randy went on to build his talents in the special events and wedding industry for the next 28 years. The last fifteen years Randy was an integral member of the Darryl & Co. family.

Randy was preceded in death by his father Bill Ramsey, and a sister Barbara Ramsey. He is survived by his Mother, Betty Ramsey of Newkirk, Oklahoma; his sister Vickey Chance, and her husband Merrill, and their two daughters, Jennifer Mangelinkx and husband Joseph with three sons, Jesse, Taylor, and Jaxon all from Houston, Texas, Kimberly Richard and husband Kevin, and one daughter Lauryn, from Little Elm, Texas; nieces and daughters of Barbara Ramsey, Lori and husband, David, and son Brandon, and daughter, Meagan from Ponca City, Oklahoma; Leslie and husband Johnnie Davidson and sons Colter and Ramsey from Salado, Texas; Leesa and husband Ronnie Goad and daughter Kylie from Redrock, Oklahoma; Also his Aunt and Uncle, Douglas Scott and wife Sondra from Newkirk Oklahoma., his cousins, Wayne Scott and wife Jennifer from Stillwater Oklahoma, Jeffrey Scott of Dallas Texas, Tim Scott and wife Amy, and their son Foster Douglas and daughter MacKenzie; his Aunt Jenna Scott and cousin James Scott from Waco Texas, his cousin Bobby Patterson and wife Terry from Copan, Oklahoma; his cousin Jimmy Patterson and wife Dovey from Kentucky; his Uncle DJ Scott and wife Beola and their family from Borger, Texas.

Randy will always be known for his kind loving heart and constant ability to put other people before himself. He touched the lives of many people through his creativity and generous spirit and will never be forgotten.

There will be a Graveside Service at 11 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery East of Ponca City, Oklahoma, with Pastor Douglas Scott presiding. Local arrangements under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
