John Ross Caranci, 64, of Sheshequin Township, formerly of Levittown, Pa., died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Towanda. He was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Ross and Bertha Lynch Caranci. On June 29, 1957, John married the former Carole S. Costello in Philadelphia. John was formerly employed by the Kramps Shipyard in Philadelphia for seven years and by the Strick Trailer Corp. in Langhorne, Pa., for 13 years. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carole S. Caranci at home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Edgar Peppler Jr. of Bordentown, N.J., and Sherri and Kurt Brechels of Morrisville, Pa.; son, John R. "Jack" Caranci Jr. of Bordentown, N.J.; five grandchildren, Morgan, Ross and Madison Peppler, Kurt Brechels Jr. and Jennifer Brechels; two nephews, Joseph Caranci Jr. and Anthony Caranci, both of Levittown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Caranci Sr. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated afterward at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Third Street, Towanda, with the Rev. Ronald Hughes, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hornbrook Cemetery, Sheshequin Township.
