ARYLENE PENNINGTON MOWREY Published: 7/21/2004
ARYLENE PENNINGTON MOWREY, 85, a hospital volunteer for 25 years, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at her home in Georgetown, Ky. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Highlawn United Methodist Church, Huntington, with Dr. John R. Sauvage and Rev. Keith Leap officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. She was born April 14, 1919, in Myra W.Va., a daughter of the late George Thomas G.T. and Nora Kinder Ray. She was raised in Huntington. Also preceding her in death in 1974 was her first husband, J. Harlan Pennington, the Director of Marketing for the McJunkin Corporation, and in 1992, her second husband, John W. Mowrey, an executive for Carbide Corporation, and nine siblings. She graduated from Huntington High School, attended Marshall University, and was a member of Highlawn United Methodist Church. She lived in Charleston, W.Va., for 45 years and volunteered at the Charleston Memorial Hospital. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Sandy Titus of Richmond, Va.; two sons, Larry Pennington of Washington, D.C., and Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Terry Harlan Pennington of Georgetown, Ky.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, and after 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
