DURANT - George N. Hamby, 82, passed away, Tuesday, December 6, 2011, in Durant.
Graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, December 10, at Ludlow Cemetery, Ludlow Okla.
Mr. Hamby is survived by his son George 'Randy' Hamby of Dension; daughter Gayla Whorton of Savannah, Okla, and Dayla Hamby of Durant; sisters Dixie Daniel of Pottsboro and Grace Berghauser of Durant; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 6 - 7 p.m., Friday, December 9,
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service, Durant.

Hamby was born on Friday, May 3, 1929, in Ludlow, Oklahoma to E.W. and Ollie (Mowdy) Hamby and passed from this life on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 3 days. George graduated from Smithville High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in Education. George was a long time teacher and principle for many schools in SE Oklahoma touching many young lives. He married Max Helen Hannah in May of 1955 and they moved to Bryan County in 1980 from Pittsburg, OK. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
