Shelbyville, KY - Julia Shockley McConnell, the mother of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., died Thursday at the Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville, apparently of complications from a stroke. She was 74.
Mrs. McConnell, a native of Wadley, AL, was the widow of Addison Mitchell McConnell, who died in 1990.
In addition to her son, she is survived by three grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville.
