Gerda Peterson, 94 of Kelliher, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at The Cornerstone Residence in Kelliher.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Kelliher with the Rev. Dan Heath officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14 at Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Kelliher under the direction of Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck.

The honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, Ronald and Gerald Lindmark, Leslie and Richard Pederson, and Jim Torgerson.

She was born Aug. 3, 1915, to Hans and Hilda (Tollefsdotter) Torgerson in Shotley, Minn. She was raised in Shotley and attended school in Shotley and Kelliher. She married Wilbur Peterson Feb. 22 1935, and was widowed in 1989. In her earlier years she worked at Eggens Cafe in Kelliher: she had a lunch bar at Gabby's Resort in Waskish, worked at their grocery store (Pete's Grocery) with her husband, worked at the Kelliher School. She was a member of the Kelliher Garden Club in earlier years and a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. At the age of 93, she was still living in her own house. In November 2008 she moved into the Cornerstone Residence. Her pastimes included ice fishing, gardening, working in her yard and flower garden and picking berries. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins.

She is survived by her daughter, LaVonne of Blackduck; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Herman, Hank and Martin; sisters, Solvey, Edith, Margaret, Hilda and Aaste.
