Daniel G. Jindra, age 78, of 703 Sixth St., Kiel, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton.
He was born, April 25, 1928, in Two Rivers, son of the late, Alvin and Leona Meineke Jindra. Dan graduated from Mishicot High School in 1946 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture. While a student at UW-Madison, Dan enlisted in the ROTC program and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. upon graduation. On Aug. 15, 1953, he married at the Lutheran Calvary Chapel in Madison. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country proudly in the Korean War. Dan worked for Lake to Lake/Land O'Lakes in Kiel for 34 years as a membership
director. After retirement, he worked part-time for the Wisconsin Agriculture Statistics Department. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel, where he served as a former member of the church council, and was a member of the church choir for many years.
He was also a member of the Monday Night Golf League and the Kiel Fish & Game. He was a former alderman for the city of Kiel, and helped organize the Kiel picnic parade for several years. Dan enjoyed golfing, playing cribbage, poker and sheepshead with his friends, hunting, fishing, and family camping.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years; four children; and 10 grandchildren. He is further survived by four great-grandchildren; one brother; one sister; sister-in-law; sisters and brothers-in-law; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by one sister: Ethel Breitwisch; one brother: Roy Jindra; and one brother-in-law: Edwin Breitwisch.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 387 Cemetery Road, Kiel, with the Rev. David Laabs officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
