Enlisted, Dec. 16, 1895, in Troop C Cavalry, ( founding member ), Brooklyn, NY. Served with Troop C, NY Volunteer Cavalry, in the Spanish American War ( 1898 ). Participated in the Puerto Rico Campaign. He saw combat at Coamo, PR. Discharged from volunteer service, Nov. 25, 1898, Brooklyn, NY.

Served as a Lieutenant, in Troop 6, Squadron C Cavalry., Brooklyn, NY. Promoted Captain and commanded Troop 7, Squadron C Cavalry, 1908, Dec. 4, 1911 resigned.

He Commanded ( Major ) the 1st New York Cavalry Depot Squadron, NYG, 1916 - 1917, while the 1st NY Cavalry was at the Mexican Boarder.

Married Elizabeth Wilson, the sister of two brothers Henry & James both veterans of Troop C, NY Volunteer Cavalry, Spanish American War.

GOLD STAR FATHER. his son Lieutenant ( jg ) George J. Morgan Jr., USN, was killed in action, October 2, 1942. He was killed serving as a fighter pilot during the battle of Guadalcanal.
