Shirley Harris passed peacefully away in Ogden, UT on December 3, 2011 after a lingering illness. She was born on August 18, 1935 in Milo, Idaho to Lester Cleone and Edna Mae Palmer Avery. Shirley married Boyce Rich Harris on May 28, 1962 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She had resided in Seattle, WA 1963-1966, San Dimas, CA 1966-1980, Issaquah, WA from 1980-2001 and in Bremerton, WA from 2002-2011; she had just relocated to Utah with her husband.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints (LDS). She served an LDS mission to Samoa 1958-1961, and served in the Taipei, Taiwan mission with her husband from 2001-2002. Shirley spent her life in service to the community and the LDS Church. She served as a temple ordinance worker in the Seattle, Washington and Taipei, Taiwan temples. She was called to serve in every Church auxiliary as a teacher or officer at ward, stake or mission levels. For her dedicated leadership in the Cub Scout program, Shirley received a special award from the Boy Scouts of America.

Her service to friends and family will long be remembered, as will the parties and luaus that she hosted for the community. She will long be respected for her dedication to the Polynesian and Asian people, both in this country and abroad.

Shirley is survived by her husband Boyce, five daughters and one son, Jenifer Aldous, Andrea Crimm, Janet Ring, Rebecca Ditty, Elizabeth Harris and Jeffrey Nathan Harris; 20 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; two sisters, Virginia Henninger, Diane Siddoway and one brother, Larry L. Avery.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Boyce Harris and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 9th at the LDS Pleasant View Stake Center, 2900 N. 1000 W.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, December 8th from 6 to 8 pm at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington and Friday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 am.

Interment will be at the Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, South Ogden, UT.
