Funeral Services for Mrs. Esther Roos Monday, April 18
Funeral services were held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia Monday, April 18, for Mrs. Esther Roos. Reverend Ver Straten officiated. Burial was made in the Balsora Cemetery.
Esther Carlson, daughter of John and Mary Carlson, was born May 25, 1880, in Sherman county, Nebraska. She suffered a heart attack Wednesday, April 13th, and was taken to the Sacred Heart hospital in Loup City, where she passed away Friday April 15th, at the age of 79 years, 10 months, and 20 days.
On November 19, 1913, she was united in marriage with Reverend John A. Roos, pastor of the Balsora Baptist Church south of Arcadia. Together they served the Lord in His ministry at Balsora, in Iron Mountain and Marquette, Michigan, and Arthur, Iowa. After his death in 1930, Mrs. Roos and her sister, Amanda Carlson, lived together in the Arcadia community. In recent years Mrs. Sophia Claussen, the third Carlson sister joined them and together they lived in Arcadia.
Mrs. Roos was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her two sisters, Amanda Carlson and Sophia Claussen of Arcadia; a nephew, David Nordstrom, and a niece, Mrs. Marie Anderson, both of Comstock, and their families.
