Etta P. Hancher, 76, of Newton Street died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at the home of her daughter on Base Line Road.
Mrs. Hancher was a cafeteria and factory worker at Hamilton Cosco, retiring in 1989 after 23 years of service. She also worked for Columbus Process Co. and the former Silver Diner.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church on 16th Street with the Rev. J.C. Brown officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed & Jewell Chapel, on 25th Street and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Just Friends Adult Day Care or Hospice of Bartholomew County.
Mrs. Hancher was born in Columbus Nov. 11, 1927, the daughter of Leonard C. and Ollie Robertson Herron. She married Donald "Candy Man" Hancher July 2, 1949, in Columbus.
She is survived by a son, Richard Lee "Sandy" Hancher of Columbus; daughters, Patsy Bain, Carol Cutsinger and Penny Lockhart, all of Columbus; brothers, Ronnie Herron of Franklin and Everett "Babe" Herron of Columbus; a sister, Donna Sue Holland of Scottsburg; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 17, 1989; an infant brother, William A. Herron; and sisters, Elsie Spray and Ruth Williams.

Etta P. Hancher, 76, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at her daughter's residence in Columbus. She was a resident of Columbus.
She was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Columbus. Her parents were Leonard C. and Ollie (Robertson) Herron. She married Donald "Candy Man" Hancher on July 2, 1949, in Columbus. He preceded her in death Nov. 17, 1989. Survivors include a son, Richard Lee "Sandy" Hancher of Columbus; three daughters, Patsy Bain, Carol Cutsinger and Penny Lockhart, all of Columbus; two brothers, Ronnie Herron of Franklin and Everett "Babe" Herron of Columbus; a sister, Donna Sue Holland of Scottsburg; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, William Anderson Herron; and two sisters, Elsie Spray and Ruth Williams.
She was employed by Hamilton Cosco in the cafeteria for 13 years and in the factory for 10 years, retiring in 1989. She previously was employed by Columbus Process Co. and Silver Diner in Columbus.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Columbus.
