Major League Baseball Player. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a right handed pitcher making his debut for the Brooklyn Bridegrooms on May 6, 1898. For two seasons, he played with the Brooklyn Bridegrooms (1898) and Baltimore Orioles (1899). He concluded his career with a record of 5 wins, 17 loss, 19 complete games, 1 save, 46 strikeouts and a 5.18 earned run average. He died at age 100 in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the first major league player to live to his 100th birthday. On the occasion of his 100th birthday, he mentioned that he had never heard of pizza. So to honor the occasion, the President of Pizza Hut sent him a three-foot-wide pizza with his name spelled out in pepperoni. His reaction? "No! I won't eat it".
