Rebecca's father, my 5th G-Grandfather and DAR ancestor, spelled their last name Chamberlain. I have every record and source for him. Sometimes in the past the engraver, census taker, etc., would spell according to sound or not even ask the family how they spelled their names. I have to think that this happened here or that they didn't plan the tombstone space well and had to leave the A out for that reason.

Gravesite Details
Tombstone spells her maiden name as Chamberlin not Chamberlain. I think they ran out of room. Also the stone says she died Oct. 20 and the family bible record says the 27th.
