Harrisburg Telegraph newspaper, 1 April 1899:
Franklin Shughart, died at his home in Plainfield on Sunday morning, March 26th, aged 61 years. The funeral took place on Wednesday, March 29th. Interment was made at Stone Church in Frankford township.
He is survived by a widow and the following children: Alfred, of South Middleton township; Samuel, of Frankford township; John, of North Middleton township; William, of Frankford township; Pierce, of Illinois; Mrs. Annie Eckerd, of South Middleton; Clara, of this city, and Emma, of Frankford township.
He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: William, of East North street, Carlisle, Emanuel, of Middlesex township; Joseph, of Frankford township; John, of Kansas, and Mrs. George W. Swigert, of Carlisle. Mr. Shughart for many years was engaged at farming in North Middleton township. About four years ago he gave up farming and removed to Plainfield.
