RICHARD G LAW: 78, of ElyriaTwp, passed away peacefully Wednesday [9-05] at Good Samaritan Nursing Home-Avon. His loving wife of 59 years was at his side. He had survived 5 battles of cancer. He was born 23 Nov 1928 in Elyria & had been a resident of ElyriaTwp since 1948. He grew up in LaGrange; graduated from LaGrange High School (now Keystone) in 1946. He served in the US Army from Nov 1946 to May 1948, where he was stationed in Germ-any. He was owner-operator of Law Welding Inc. for 40yrs & worked on county road bridge repairs throughout the state of Ohio. He also did job shop work during the winter months, retiring in 2000.
He was a life member of Vermilion VFW-7576; ErieShores Humane Soc; member Elyria Lodge-787 F&AM, Elyria Commandery-60; Knights Templar; a former member of Al Koran Shrine AAONMS of Cleveland & Lorain County Shrine Club where he was one of the founders of the Lorain County Shrine Fire Brigade. He was a founding member of Commodore Perry Antique Car Club AACA & served as President of the local chapter. He enjoyed restoring antique cars & was an animal lover.
He is survived by his wife Jane (nee Schmitz); daus: RebeccaM Dummitt-Avon; SusanD Yost-Highland Village TX; BonnieC Law-Wellington & a son-ScottL Law-Lorain. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren [named] & 5 gr-grand children [all named]. He was preceded in death by his parents: KennethV Law-1989 & HelenM (nee VanArsdale) Law-2001.
There will be no visitation or service, by his request. Memorial contributions may be made to Erie Shores Humane Society-Elyria OH or the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, C/O Al Koran Shriners-Broadview Heights OH. Burial will be in Columbia Twp Cem. Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria handled arrangements.
