Monsignor Reverend Edward J. Dunphy is the son of John and Ann Dunphy and was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He was the Pastor of St. John's Church in Dunellen, New Jersey for many years.

Father comes from a religious family. His brother William and sister Johanna both served the Catholic community as Priest and Nun respectively. Johanna belonged to the order of the Sisters of Charity. His other brother James married and raised a family.

Monsignor was ordained a priest back in June of 1898 in Baltimore, Maryland at Saint Mary's Seminary.

In May of 1927 Father Dunphy celebrated his silver jubilee as Pastor of St. John's Parish in Dunellen. He was sent to help start the Parish in 1902.

Father Dunphy officiated many marriages. One of note is Judge John J Rafferty and his bride Kathryn Mae Kemp in November of 1836.

Father occasionally took trips abroad he was 47 years old and landed in Ellis Island aboard the ship Cedric leaving Liverpool on July 29, 1922. His arrival was August 6, 1922. His place of residence was 317 1st Street, in Dunellen, NJ.

He died from a cerebral hemorrhage.

Father is buried in South Plainfield, New Jersey in Holy Redemeer Cemetery.
