Mr. Kennedy was born Feb. 3, 1935, in Indianapolis. He was the son of the now late Jesse and Mary (Hardwick) Kennedy.
He married Retha Marie Stogsdill in 1980 in Boone County. Mrs. Kennedy died on Jan. 21, 2006.
Mr. Kennedy was employed for 27 years as a tire changer at the Blue and White Truck Stop south of Lebanon, until 1996. He then spent three years as an employee of Electro-Chemical Coatings in Lebanon and four years as an employee of Ray's Trash.
Survivors include children, Mark (Candace) Spurlock, Wayne (Debbie) Spurlock and Jennifer (Ora) Shockley, all of Lebanon, Tim (Cary) Kennedy of Frankfort, James Kennedy of Lebanon and Matthew (Anessa) Kennedy of Springfield, Ohio; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Audrey M. Tyree and James Tyree, both of Lebanon; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Mike Goforth officiating. Interment with military rites will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
